# RegML (AI)

RegML represents RegScale's machine learning and artificial intelligence platform designed to address significant compliance challenges. The system is available for both SaaS cloud customers and as a locally deployable option for organizations with adequate computational resources.

## Enabling RegML

> 🚧 **The Modules and Features checkbox has been retired.** RegML is now enabled from a single location: the AI administration console. The Modules and Features page shows a notice directing administrators to the new location.

### Step 1: Setup the Environment

* **SaaS customers**: Contact RegScale Customer Success at <support@regscale.com> to activate RegML features for your tenant
* **On-premises deployments**: Refer to the Local AI Server Deployment Documentation for environment configuration details

### Step 2: Enable RegML Within the Application

An Administrator role is required.

1. Navigate to **Administration > Administration Settings > AI**
2. On the **Get Started** step, turn on the **AI Features** switch
3. The **RegML Opt-In Notice** appears. Review the notice, then check **"I have read the notice above and opt in to RegML on behalf of my organization"** and click **Opt In & Enable**
   * Clicking **Cancel** closes the notice and leaves AI disabled — RegML is opt-in only and is never activated without your confirmation
4. Click **Save** in the top-right corner
5. *(Optional)* Configure document search (RAG) on the **Embeddings & Search** step to ground AI answers in your records

Once activated, RegML tools become available for records like Control Implementations and System Security Plans, and a chatbot icon appears in the bottom-right corner. RegML is fully managed by RegScale — there are no providers, endpoints, or API keys to configure.

## Disabling RegML

Administrators can deactivate RegML anytime from the same console:

1. Navigate to **Administration > Administration Settings > AI**
2. Turn off the **AI Features** switch
3. Click **Save** in the top-right corner

The chatbot icon will disappear and RegML-specific functionality becomes unavailable.
